Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Scientist and Operations Lead to join our team at the Stephenson Cancer Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a research laboratory, conducting research, and providing support to various research activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and Development: Conduct independent research projects, develop and implement laboratory operational policies and procedures, and collaborate with other researchers.
  • Leadership and Management: Supervise laboratory personnel, responsible for hiring, terminating, training, conducting performance evaluations, disciplining, delegating, and monitoring employee's work.
  • Grant Writing and Funding: Develop and oversee new projects, including program analysis and potential sources of sponsored funding, and may apply for grants or contracts.
  • Communication and Presentation: Present research results to other researchers, committees, faculty, and at scientific meetings, and prepare research manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Establish and maintain working relationships with individuals, agencies, and other entities to encourage cooperative strategies or develop information and interpret findings.
Requirements
  • Education: Ph.D. or M.D., and 36 months Postdoctoral Research Fellow experience.
  • Skills: Advanced knowledge of their scientific field, ability to use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions or conclusions, ability to compile and analyze data, and excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Working Conditions: Laboratory Environment, exposure to chemicals, biohazardous materials, carcinogens, blood-borne pathogens, and other biohazards.
