Shifts: 2 PM - 11 PM, 11 PM - 7 AM

Southall Farm & Inn is a distinguished venue that harmonizes nature, agriculture, and community in a remarkable manner. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that guest accommodations, communal areas, and service zones are maintained to high standards through a variety of skilled trades, including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, painting, wall treatments, and masonry, thereby contributing to the overall appeal and upkeep of Southall.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct inspections of guest accommodations, communal areas, and service zones to perform repairs, touch-ups, or replacements of light fixtures, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting, and other miscellaneous repairs.
  • Utilize basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical skills regularly. This role requires proficiency in using hand and power tools, along with the physical capability to stoop, kneel, lift, push, and pull weights up to 80 lbs., climb ladders up to thirty feet high, and reach in all directions, often overhead.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In addition to the essential functions, this position may involve performing a combination of supportive tasks, with the percentage of time allocated to each task determined by the supervisor based on the needs of Southall.
  • Maintain an inventory of necessary supplies for job functions.
  • Report significant repairs and items that cannot be addressed to the dispatcher for further action and, if necessary, designate a room as out of order.
  • Due to the nature of the business, the individual may be required to undertake other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with various maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry skills.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for the operation and repair of equipment.
  • Proficiency in using related tools (both hand and electric).
  • Basic English language communication and mathematical skills to effectively communicate with colleagues, comprehend job assignments, and perform simple arithmetic functions accurately.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Capability to push and pull objects or materials weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate stairs and ladders, working at heights of up to approximately thirty feet for extended periods, with the ability to reach overhead.
  • Ability to grasp, lift, or carry items weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to address multiple problems requiring initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to move and work throughout Southall for the duration of the shift.

Work Environment / Physical Activities:

  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors, requiring the ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces with considerable noise and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work on ladders or walkways.
  • Flexibility in working hours is required.
  • Physical activities include standing, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, bending, crawling, crouching, climbing, balancing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, stretching, grasping, holding, handling, feeling, pushing, and pulling.

Licenses or Certificates: No licenses required.

Education: High School diploma or GED.
