Assembly Process Engineer

The Assembly Process Engineer at ArtiFlex Manufacturing plays a pivotal role in facilitating new assembly initiatives on the production floor while driving continuous enhancement efforts to sustain and elevate the current output of assembled components. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to and promote the Company Safety Program.
- Revise and uphold assembly process documentation.
- Engage with external suppliers and internal teams to perform design evaluations of production machinery throughout the development phase.
- Contribute to the design and construction of assembly jigs and supplementary assembly tools.
- Evaluate assembly procedures for opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support initial production runs and gather relevant data.
- Examine downtime metrics to pinpoint processes leading to inefficiencies or patterns in overall productivity.
- Travel to client locations to:
- Gather pertinent assembly and equipment details (e.g., assembly methods, equipment identification, etc.).
- Prepare a site visit report summarizing critical information from the client interaction.
- Process cost change requests to document proposed and implemented modifications to assembly processes.
- Perform additional tasks as necessary.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 8-10 years of experience in a technical automotive assembly environment.
- A minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing processes within the automotive sector.
- Proficiency in developing 2D and 3D CAD designs (Solidworks, AutoCAD preferred).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capability to lift over 35 pounds.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred; Green Belt certification required.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Assembly Fixture Design.
- Understanding of specialized assembly operations.
- Knowledge of Automotive Body components.
- Awareness of ISO/TS16949 quality standards.
- Insight into cost-related activities.
This role supports the operations group and may require occasional travel.
