Job Summary

DuraServ Corp is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Drafter I to support our Proprietary Brands in the commercial door and dock manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings of assemblies and models, including GD&T and BOM information.
  • Interpret 2D drawings and layouts for migration into a 3D environment.
  • Communicate with customers and team members regarding project scope, change requests, and milestone completions.
  • Track project progress using available sources to ensure project initiatives are met.
  • Make decisions concerning personal time management and task prioritization to deliver quality service, on time and under budget.
  • Plan mechanical drawings by reviewing sketches, descriptions, specifications, and supporting documents, and conferring with the sales team and customers.
  • Apply lean thinking and a customer-centric approach with a process-driven mindset to deliver process improvements.
  • Align to and support capital equipment programs for production and information systems, ensuring implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Review and generate BOMs for existing and new products within the product portfolio.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Ability to check manufacturing drawings to determine proper fit and function, correctness, and completeness of information.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, good reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Application of lean/continuous improvement tools & techniques in a low-volume, high-value production/manufacturing environment.
  • Top-tier analytical skills and ability to translate data and trends into solutions.
  • Superb verbal and written communication and presentation skills with a keen ability to coordinate and interact professionally with customers and stakeholders.

Travel
  • This role requires 5% planned business travel.
Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree in engineering or engineering technology preferred, Bachelor's degree in engineering desired.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in mechanical engineering utilizing one or more 3D CAD packages.
  • At least 3 years experience in the manufacturing industry supporting engineering operations in a lean environment.
  • ASQ certifications CQE, or CRE desired.
  • GD&T experience is desired.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, advanced Excel skills desired.
