Financial Planning and Analysis Role

The University of Southern Mississippi is seeking a highly skilled Financial Planning and Analysis professional to join its Facilities and Planning Management team. As a key member of the team, you will provide critical financial information and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide timely, high-quality, and accurate financial information to the Associate Vice President for Facilities and Planning Management.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets for Physical Plant operations.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analysis and evaluate business improvement options for the university.
Primary Accountabilities
  • Provide current financial information regarding Physical Plant operations.
  • Approve Physical Plant accounts payable vouchers using financial software and ensure timely payment of departmental expenses.
  • Serve as primary liaison to the Office of the Controller and assist with preparing financial reports and schedules.
  • Manage the annual budget development process for the Physical Plant division, working closely with the Office of Fiscal Planning and Analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records of expenses and project balances for capital projects funded by university-issued bonds.
  • Assist in the implementation of financial systems and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Three to five years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience and/or training.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial data and reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience with a construction company or institutional organization managing business operations for multiple complex or large-scale projects.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems and processes.
