The Warehouse Operator plays a crucial role as the primary liaison for all incoming and outgoing transport vehicles. This position involves meticulous paperwork management, schedule maintenance, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete. The operator is responsible for verifying and documenting incoming and outgoing shipments, unloading received goods, and preparing items for dispatch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately pull customer orders and prepare associated shipping documents promptly.
  • Prepare pallets for shipping and securely wrap completed pallets.
  • Efficiently unload raw materials from delivery trucks.
  • Inspect incoming shipments, reject damaged items, document shortages, and communicate with shippers to resolve issues.
  • Route items to the appropriate departments.
  • Utilize a scanning device to log materials into the computer system.
  • Operate a forklift or hand truck to transport shipments from the shipping and receiving area to storage or work locations.
  • Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing them against bills of lading, invoices, and orders.
  • Prepare and route all incoming and outgoing items for shipment or placement in inventory according to established guidelines.
  • Determine the most suitable shipping methods.
  • Coordinate with freight carriers for necessary pickups.
  • Complete manifest documentation for shipments.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Service department to ensure smooth operations.
  • Label packed cartons for shipping.
  • Retrieve inventory items designated for shipment from Work in Progress and Inventory.
  • Maintain an inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment for optimal performance, including routine adjustments and preventative maintenance.
  • Adhere to established safety policies and procedures.
  • Interact with all associates in a respectful and professional manner while upholding the company's ethical standards.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in operating a sit-down forklift and pallet jack.
  • 1st Shift: 7am - 3:30pm
  • Compensation: $18.00 per hour
  • High school diploma or GED required, or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents accurately, write routine reports, and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Competent in basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Capable of addressing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Physical demands include standing, using hands and fingers, reaching, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
