Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic performs critical work associated with the installation, inspection, and repair of plant process and facility equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and efficiency of equipment and systems within the plant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Installation and Repair: Repair, alter, install, maintain, and reset machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Facility Systems Maintenance: Operate and maintain plant facilities systems, including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • Tool Operation and Maintenance: Use hand and power tools as necessary to perform duties, including drill presses, lathes, milling machines, grinders, metal saws, and pipe threading machines.
  • Parts Fabrication: Make necessary minor parts to perform work, such as brackets, angles, braces, piping, rigging, etc.
  • Equipment Testing: Test machinery and equipment as necessary to ensure proper operation.
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Clean up debris resulting from repairs, installations, alterations, and lubrication of machines and equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Lubricate and perform preventative maintenance procedures as necessary or specified.
  • Electrical Repairs: Perform necessary basic electrical repairs, replacements, and troubleshooting on plant equipment.
  • Plumbing and Drainage: Maintain, repair, and install sewer and drain lines, plumbing, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Valve and Expansion Joint Maintenance: Maintain all valves and expansion joints.
  • Material Procurement: Obtain required materials from maintenance stores and other storage areas by complying with spare parts issue process.
  • Part Storage: Maintain an adequate replacement part storage.
  • Equipment Movement: Move equipment and machinery from one location to another using rollers, trucks, chain blocks, hoists, blocks and tackles, pry bars, ropes, chains, cables, cranes, forklift trucks, dollies, and other necessary equipment.
  • Blueprint Reading: Work from blue prints, sketches, and specifications, as necessary, applies knowledge of shop mathematics as necessary.
  • Welding and Brazing: Perform welding and brazing using oxy-acetylene, electric arc, and wire welding equipment.
  • Quality and Safety: Minimize mechanical/electrical downtime and lost production without endangering operator or machinery through repairs. Knowledgeable in all Safety Regulations and works within the appropriate standards.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience: Journeyman's card and/or 10 years of industrial experience is required
  • Work Environment: Work on the manufacturing floor and Maintenance Shop Area - drives forklift
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor.
