Position Overview:


The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver initial support to the environmental laboratory team while participating in production, research and development, and qualification assessments.

The Associate will ensure adherence to contractual requirements through the development, validation, and execution of dynamic and climatic evaluations.

The individual will take charge of laboratory challenges, ensuring resolution and following established protocols for escalating unresolved matters to the appropriate internal or external teams.

Collaboration with test lab management and various engineering teams is essential to guarantee that all evaluations comply with laboratory procedures and documentation standards.


Key Responsibilities:


Act as the main point of contact for test apparatus, processes, and maintain accountability for test execution related to sensor and space products.

Draft intricate and professional test plans, procedures, reports, and work instructions to demonstrate compliance and ensure readiness, repeatability, and timely delivery.

Conduct tests, document observations and anomalies, gather and analyze data, and prepare test reports to verify the accuracy and consistency of data integrity.

Operate, troubleshoot, and identify root causes in various automated and manual testing equipment, setups, and laboratory instruments (thermal chambers, vibration and shock systems, and various measurement transducers) to enhance workflow and efficiency.

Participate in and conduct failure analysis and develop recovery strategies for test failures.

Diagnose and maintain onsite environmental testing equipment and related fixtures, including vibration/shock fixtures, electrodynamic shakers, mechanically induced pyro shock beams, thermal chambers, and associated instrumentation.

Perform design analysis and testing, both structural and thermal, to validate that designs meet customer specifications.

Implement, deploy, and sustain test fixtures and apparatus utilized for product testing through annual evaluations and data acquisition software to verify and validate overall performance.

Engage with Management, Program Managers, Project Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Test Technicians, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
Communicate and apply lessons learned (successes, challenges, and opportunities for enhancement) to team members.
Lead by example by promoting respect, diversity and inclusion, and ethical conduct within the organization.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Science Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred Skills:


Experience with CAD or analysis (FEA) tools, and/or background in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, structures, and mechanisms.

Familiarity with transducer instrumentation, data collection, and/or automation and software programming for numerical analysis.
Ability to apply principles of Structural Mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities.
Capability to create free body diagrams, determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams.
Proficient in at least one programming language.
Familiarity with finite element methods and principles of fatigue and damage tolerance.
