Job Overview

Salary: $60,000

Objective:
The Safety Coordinator serves as the representative for Safety at Hi-Lite, embodying the Think Z philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Safety Manager in executing safety strategies and ensuring adherence on a daily basis.
  2. Collaborate with the Safety Manager to formulate OSHA workplace policies and procedures.
  3. Ensure that all safety signage and postings are current and correctly displayed at all facilities and on vehicles/equipment.
  4. Conduct field safety evaluations and inspections, including checks on safety equipment like fire extinguishers.
  5. Verify that all safety equipment is calibrated, up-to-date, and that safety supplies and first aid items are replenished and within their use-by dates.
  6. Perform safety walks and inspections prior to or during projects to assess safety risks.
  7. Offer recommendations for enhancing workplace safety.
  8. Assist in various safety-related tasks as directed by the Safety Manager or Leadership.

Additional Duties:

  1. Aid the Safety Manager in promoting safety standards and safe operational practices.
  2. Assist in developing solutions and intervention strategies for health, hygiene, and safety hazards.
  3. Participate in accident investigations to identify potential causes.
  4. Research new materials and conduct safety training for new hires and ongoing staff.
  5. Support the Safety Manager in post-accident follow-up and corrective action training.
  6. Maintain inventory levels of safety equipment across all facilities and vehicles.
  7. Identify and procure OSHA and EPA compliance items and safety equipment.
  8. Document and maintain the schedule for Safety Committee Meetings.
  9. Document and maintain the schedule for Incident Review Team meetings.
  10. Provide collaborative support to all departments regarding safety matters.

Qualifications:

  1. 1-3 years of experience in safety or a related field is preferred.
  2. Possession of OSHA 10, 30, or 40 certification.
  3. Willingness to travel 70% - 75% of the time.
  4. Possession or willingness to obtain a CDL license.
  5. Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel.
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA.
  8. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively while meeting deadlines.
  9. Strong interpersonal skills to build effective professional relationships with employees and project managers.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office setting and outdoors on airfields. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines are routinely used.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regular communication is required, and frequent standing, walking, and use of hands are necessary.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time role, with hours that may vary from the standard Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. while in the office.

Travel Requirements:
Travel is required 70% - 75% of the time.

Education:
High School Diploma is required.
