Job Overview

Headstart Hatching is seeking a dedicated Turkey Hatchery Operations Supervisor to join our team in a full-time capacity. This pivotal role involves managing the processing and sorting operations associated with turkey poult production.


The Turkey Hatchery Operations Supervisor will ensure that our hatchery maintains high standards of quality and efficiency. This position demands exceptional attention to detail, strong leadership capabilities, and effective communication skills. You will be instrumental in upholding the operational integrity of our hatchery, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and established protocols.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily activities of the turkey hatchery service room staff, ensuring efficient and accurate production workflows while providing assistance on the floor as necessary.
  • Conduct training for new employees and ensure adherence to established industry standards and protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of servicing activities, including dates, flocks, and quantities, ensuring all documentation is precise and current.
  • Monitor environmental conditions during servicing, such as temperature and humidity, to safeguard the health of the poults.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of turkey poults within designated areas of the hatchery.
  • Operate and maintain automated processing and sorting machinery, including MPSP, PSP, and conveyor systems.
  • Report any discrepancies or issues to the Hatchery Manager and implement corrective actions with appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations pertaining to both personnel and poultry during processing operations.

Qualifications:
  • Prior supervisory experience in a poultry processing or hatchery environment, particularly in turkey production, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with turkey egg and poult handling procedures is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of biosecurity measures and industry regulations is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to accurately document all servicing aspects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.

Work Schedule:
  • Core business hours: 48-hour work weeks, typically starting at 6 AM.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
