Headstart Hatching is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual for the role of Senior Hatchery Operations Supervisor. This full-time position is essential for overseeing the various processing and sorting functions involved in the production of turkey poults.
The Supervisor will ensure that all operations are performed with precision, attention to detail, and efficiency. This role is vital in maintaining the high standards of quality expected in turkey hatchery production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute procedures on turkey poults utilizing approved techniques and equipment.
- Assist in the logistics of loading and unloading turkey poults within designated areas of the hatchery.
- Operate automated processing and sorting machinery, including MPSP and PSP systems, as well as conveyor systems.
- Report any irregularities or concerns to the Service Room Supervisor or Hatchery Manager as necessary.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and biosecurity measures.
- Support the supervisor in training and developing staff, providing guidance to Service Room Employees.
- Collaborate with the supervisor to guarantee that daily operations meet industry benchmarks.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Previous experience in a hatchery environment is advantageous.
- Understanding of turkey egg and poult handling practices is preferred.
- Familiarity with biosecurity standards and industry regulations is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify potential operational issues.
- Capability to follow established protocols and procedures within the hatchery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Experience in managing and motivating a diverse team.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
Work Schedule:
The core business hours consist of a 48-hour work week, typically from 6 AM until the end of the day. Flexibility is required, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
