Role Summary:
The Maintenance Specialist is tasked with ensuring the optimal operation and upkeep of all hatchery machinery and facilities. This role requires a thorough understanding of incubation and hatching systems, along with hatch pull and servicing equipment.
It is essential to grasp all hatchery procedures, focusing on elements that influence hatchability, poult quality, and associated costs.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Duties:
- Execute routine maintenance and repairs on hatchery machinery, including incubators, hatchers, ventilation systems, automation tools, and water supply systems.
- Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and promote efficient hatchery operations.
- Oversee all routine maintenance of the hatchery, including control systems and/or robotic equipment.
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective measures swiftly.
- Monitor and sustain environmental controls to ensure optimal temperature, humidity, and ventilation for maximum hatchability and poult quality.
- Prepare incubators and hatchers for the setting and transferring of new eggs.
- Set eggs in incubators and ensure that adequate profiles are established.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and equipment, ensuring sufficient supplies are available for maintenance and repairs.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment for maintenance staff and other hatchery personnel.
- Collaborate with hatchery management and team members to enhance hatchery performance and productivity.
- Document maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repairs for record-keeping and analysis.
- Conduct regular on-site safety inspections and maintain work areas, equipment, and surrounding grounds to prevent unsafe conditions.
- Follow all company regulations regarding biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety.
- Engage in training programs to improve technical skills and remain informed about industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in maintenance and repair is necessary.
- Technical Certifications (such as a Boiler license or advanced vocational training in the mechanical field) are required.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
- A valid Driver's License is mandatory.
Work Schedule:
- Core business hours consist of 48-hour work weeks from 6 AM to 6 PM.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
