Overview

A non-profit veterinary organization dedicated to the welfare of animals is seeking a Veterinary Operations Director. This role is pivotal in overseeing the medical functions across various programs, ensuring efficient veterinary services for animals in need.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Oversight:

  • Act as the primary leader for medical operations, identifying areas for enhancement.
  • Manage daily operations, including staff scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Assist in the creation and enforcement of medical policies and protocols.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational standards, industry regulations, and veterinary best practices.
  • Support the Chief Medical Officer in guiding a team of veterinary professionals and support staff.
  • Promote a collaborative and positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure staff members are well-trained and engaged in their roles.
  • Oversee client interactions, maintaining high standards of customer service.

Medical Operations Management:

  • Implement the medical vision in line with the organization's mission.
  • Establish and monitor quality metrics to uphold clinic excellence.
  • Analyze patient outcomes and work with the team to refine medical protocols.
  • Investigate and apply technological advancements to improve operational efficiency.
  • Track performance indicators as defined by executive leadership.

Resource Allocation:

  • Oversee the effective distribution of resources, including personnel and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to manage the veterinary services budget.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining care quality.
  • Explore technological solutions to enhance operational workflows.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years in veterinary or medical practice management.
  • Experience in an animal shelter environment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of medical standards, procedures, and best practices is essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills, including budget oversight and resource management.
  • Experience in documentation and compliance monitoring.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to serve as a liaison between veterinary teams and other departments.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, with experience in mentoring diverse teams.
  • Experience in conducting training sessions and fostering a positive work environment.
