Chicago, Illinois, United States Veterinary Emergency Group Full time

ABOUT US:
Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is transforming the Veterinary Emergency landscape. Our goal is to support both individuals and their pets during critical moments. Emergency care is our specialty, and we excel in it.
We are redefining the entire experience with an exceptional customer journey, a highly skilled emergency-focused team, and state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and treatments.

Our patients receive immediate attention from a veterinarian, and clients are encouraged to stay with their pets throughout the entire process.

We actively break down barriers to connect clients with their VEG heroes and showcase the remarkable work they perform.

We empower our staff to reach their full potential. We eliminate ineffective systems, challenge outdated norms, and establish new standards.

OUR CULTURE:
At VEG, we prioritize the safety, security, and appreciation of both pets and their owners. We strive for our employees to experience the same sense of belonging. Our core values include collaboration, transparency, compassionate assistance, and meaningful interactions.

We are continuously evolving to ensure that VEG remains a premier workplace today and a pioneer in talent development, allowing our employees to grow alongside us.

For our clients and their pets, we always find a way to say, "Yes". We extend the same commitment to our team members.

ROLE FOCUS:
This position emphasizes ultrasound support for VEG facilities and training centers. You will collaborate closely with emergency veterinarians to deliver same-day ultrasound evaluations for pets in urgent need. Additionally, you will assist in organizing educational opportunities and comprehensive ultrasound training for your home and regional facilities. You will inspire and encourage your fellow VEG team members to enhance their ultrasound expertise.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
We seek an enthusiastic and driven individual. Someone who values education and embodies honesty and respect as a team player. They are passionate about their work and enjoy collaborating with both animals and people. They adapt easily to new situations, are eager to learn innovative techniques, and think creatively.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal skills, is willing to assist wherever needed, and approaches tasks with a positive mindset.

They demonstrate the capability to complete assigned responsibilities and know when to seek help. They exhibit outstanding communication skills with peers, clients, and the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct ultrasound examinations and facilitate ultrasound training at your home facility and regional sites.
- Maintain strong relationships and accept constructive feedback from teleconsultation radiologists reviewing your studies (e.g., Antech, SonoPath, IDEXX, VetsChoice, etc.).
- Ensure all training materials and activities align with VEG's culture, mission, and vision, and reflect accurate, contemporary sonographic techniques.
- Track the skills of doctors and nursing teams using a VEG Ultrasound Certificate checklist.
- Engage in self-assessment and program evaluation practices to enhance VEG's ultrasound training initiatives.
- Regularly meet with medical directors, VNDCs, and the director of radiology education to discuss program development, training goals, and additional requirements.
- Collaborate with the hospital manager and medical director to implement new training protocols, schedules, and address interpersonal concerns.
- Coordinate weekly schedules with the hospital manager and medical director to balance on-the-floor shifts and training responsibilities.
- Assist in developing ultrasound curriculum materials, such as presentations, videos, simulations, and assessments for the training programs.
- Opportunity to provide educational demonstrations for doctors and nurses at other VEG locations on ultrasound topics, including abdominal, thoracic, cardiac, cervical, and musculoskeletal studies.

BENEFITS:
- Full-time employment with comprehensive benefits at VEG.
- Patience to mentor and develop doctors, nurses, and fellow sonographers.
- Minimum of 3 years of veterinary ultrasound experience.
- Credentials as a veterinary technician (LVT/CVT/RVT/LVMT), diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS), or equivalent experience (e.g., sonographer course certificates).
- Comfort in mentoring others and providing/receiving feedback from colleagues.
- A friendly and positive demeanor.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic environments.
- Embrace The VEG Way and share your insights and experiences.
- Recognize and celebrate the successes of fellow VEG team members.
- Eagerness to continue personal growth as a sonographer through skill and knowledge development.
- Willingness to travel to regional facilities for training purposes.

OUR COMMITMENT:
VEG is dedicated to fostering diversity and creating an inclusive workplace that reflects a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
