Monday to Saturday: 7am - 8pm

Sunday: Closed

Compensation:

$22 - $27 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

The following responsibilities reflect the primary expectations of this role, though they are not exhaustive. The essential functions are critical to the role's existence; removing a core duty would fundamentally change the position.

  • Guide support staff to ensure smooth shift operations.
  • Mentor colleagues for professional growth and personal development.
  • Provide input for comprehensive employee performance evaluations.
  • Deliver patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients.
  • Accurately document all relevant medical, client, and case information.
  • Review medical records and discharge instructions with clients.
  • Address basic animal care inquiries and direct medical questions to veterinarians as needed.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist clients with appointment scheduling, payment processing, and check-ins.
  • Answer phone calls courteously and informatively.
  • Provide feedback on training programs.
  • Participate in job shadows or working interviews as required.

Qualifications:

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in various skills, including laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Capability to handle a fast-paced environment effectively.
  • Experience administering SQ, IM, and IV injections.
  • Knowledge of prescription drug usage, dosages, and side effects.
  • Understanding of anesthesia and recovery protocols.
  • Ability to monitor and recover patients from anesthesia.
  • Strong reasoning, memory, mathematical, and language skills.
  • Confidence in handling pets.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • State licensing as required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the veterinary field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Endurance for prolonged periods of standing and walking on hard surfaces.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with various animal sounds.
  • Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch, and occasional exposure to anesthesia and other hazards.
  • Good hearing and vision abilities for effective communication and task performance.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for equipment operation.

Travel Requirements:

Minimal travel may be required for vendor visits and training.
