Role Overview

The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) at ServiceNow is a client-centric innovation team focused on developing intelligent software and exceptional user experiences through the application of both established and cutting-edge technologies. Our team comprises researchers, applied scientists, engineers, and product managers, united by a dual mission: to enhance our AI platform and collaborate with teams to create AI-driven products and comprehensive work experiences. We engage in foundational research, experimentation, and risk mitigation of AI technologies that pave the way for future work experiences.

In this role, you will significantly contribute to advancing our Large Language Models (LLMs) for Enterprise Language Generation, enhancing the NOW platform with AI capabilities that streamline our customers' daily operations. As we embark on this journey with our early-adopter clients, your expertise will be crucial in pioneering new innovations and methodologies that surpass current standards, creating next-generation models that compete at the highest level. This work will enable a wide array of solutions for our extensive network of enterprise clients globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your AI/ML expertise and creativity to tackle real-world challenges and datasets, applying existing methodologies while innovating new solutions that are practical and scalable.
  • Research and propose advanced techniques that can enhance current methods. Collaborate with fellow researchers and applied scientists to validate and implement these innovations, leading to significantly improved models.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and scaling of LLMs as a vital AI-first offering within ServiceNow's portfolio.
  • Work alongside a team of dedicated developers, research scientists, product managers, and engineers to produce high-quality research outputs.
Qualifications

To excel in this position, you should possess:

  • A current pursuit of a PhD or advanced Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • A publication record in leading conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ACL, EMNLP).
  • Preferred experience in the pretraining of LLMs, though not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in instruction fine-tuning and other fine-tuning techniques is essential.
  • Familiarity with reinforcement learning is advantageous but not required.
  • Experience with various transformer architectures (e.g., auto-regressive, sequence-to-sequence).
  • A commitment to staying updated with the latest advancements and research in the field.

  • Potential for patent applications, if applicable.
  • Development of working proof of concepts.
