SALARY: $200,000.00 - $225,000.00 / year

The next Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will become an integral part of a talented and collaborative executive team, dedicated to ensuring that our nonprofit federally qualified health center (FQHC) provides accessible healthcare and high-quality services to all community members. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial leadership skills, a commitment to our mission, and an understanding of the vital role FQHCs play in our community, thereby supporting both our patients and our team of over 280 members.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) works closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and senior leadership team to advance CHP's mission and vision. The CFO is responsible for overseeing the finance and billing departments, ensuring the overall financial health and sustainability of the organization. Key finance functions include the development and management of accounting, financial, and revenue cycle policies, which encompass cash flow planning, finance, accounting, coding, insurance, internal controls, budgeting, auditing, claims processing, payroll, and tracking/reporting on financial and operational metrics.

The CFO empowers the finance team and other departments by providing the necessary leadership and resources to effectively support CHP's operations. The role requires the establishment of appropriate financial controls, administrative procedures, and reporting mechanisms to ensure high-performing, compliant teams. The CFO will also be expected to work flexible hours and travel to various health center locations as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and direct all financial accounting and reporting procedures, including monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger management.
  • Ensure accuracy in accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Analyze and present financial statements to management and the Board.
  • Monitor departmental financial performance and internal controls.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and ensure compliance.
  • Manage relationships with federal and state tax authorities and government regulators.
  • Oversee payroll processing and related tax filings.
  • Direct all revenue cycle activities, ensuring timely billing and collections.
  • Make key financial and operational decisions aligned with CHP's strategic goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; a Master's degree or CPA is preferred.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience, including five (5) years in a healthcare organization.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and budgetary practices, cash flow management, and healthcare fiscal regulations.
  • Expertise in financial reporting, data analysis, and advanced financial software.
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on building and mentoring a high-performing finance team.
