The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in property management accounting and will be adept at both hands-on tasks and leadership responsibilities. This position encompasses oversight of corporate accounting functions, including the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. Familiarity with property management software is essential for success in this role. Candidates should have prior experience in property accounting and have held a supervisory role in their previous positions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate accounts payable invoices, conduct bank reconciliations, and review rent projections.
  • Analyze commercial lease summaries, tenant charges, and annual budgets.
  • Compile monthly management reports and prepare year-end documentation.
  • Prepare operating and real estate tax escalations.
  • Coordinate tax return preparation with external accounting firms.
  • Review and prepare certiorari forms.
  • Examine draft financial statements and tax returns.
  • Prepare RPIEs for properties in New York.
  • Generate documents required for lender reporting, including quarterly operating statements, balance sheets, and rent rolls.
  • Collaborate with company principals to forecast growth and expansion strategies.
  • Assist in the strategic implementation of proactive programs and operational enhancements.
  • Identify and address service excellence gaps, policies, and procedures; proactively implement solutions.
  • Conduct risk management assessments by analyzing client liabilities and investments.
  • Provide accounting oversight and forecasting for ongoing construction projects.
  • Support the annual planning process for corporate entities.
  • Demonstrate expertise in bank reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Prepare accurate current and forecasting reports.
  • Assist in property acquisition, sale, or refinancing activities.
  • Possess knowledge of 1031 exchanges.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Oversee financial activities, including month-end closing and financial statement preparation.
  • Manage team members responsible for accounts receivable and collections, as well as budget development.
  • Contribute to the preparation of real estate strategic plans and ad hoc analyses in collaboration with various teams.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting.
  • Willingness to commute or relocate as necessary.
  • Experience in multifamily properties and tax-related matters.
  • Proven leadership experience managing a team of accountants and overseeing accounts payable and receivable.
  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application in financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with partnership and joint venture accounting processes.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior finance role, specifically within the real estate sector.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary range: $120,000 - $130,000.
