SALARY: $200,000.00 - $225,000.00 / year
The next Chief Financial Officer will collaborate with a skilled and cooperative executive team dedicated to ensuring that our nonprofit federally qualified health center (FQHC) provides equitable healthcare access and exceptional care to all residents in the region. Your financial acumen, dedication to our mission, and understanding of the vital role of FQHCs in our community will support our patients and our team of over 280 professionals. The new CFO will be an integral part of our senior leadership team and is expected to possess the following qualifications: a Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (Master's degree or CPA preferred), a minimum of 10 years of experience in a financial leadership role (including at least 5 years in the healthcare sector, with a strong preference for experience in primary/multispecialty ambulatory care and/or FQHCs), and comprehensive knowledge of healthcare finance (including budgeting, financial analysis, cash flow management, government and healthcare fiscal regulations, revenue cycle management, and payer contracting).

POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) works closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and senior leadership team to execute the mission and vision of Community Health Program Inc. The CFO oversees the finance and billing departments and is accountable for the overall financial health of the organization. Key finance functions include the development and oversight of accounting, financial, and revenue cycle policies, encompassing cash flow planning, finance, accounting, coding, insurance, internal controls, budgeting, auditing, claims processing, payroll, and monitoring/reporting on financial and operational metrics.
The CFO empowers the finance team and other areas of responsibility by providing the necessary leadership and resources to effectively support the organization's operations. This role requires the leadership, management, and vision to ensure that Community Health Program Inc maintains proper financial controls, administrative, and reporting procedures to foster effective, compliant, and high-performing teams. The CFO is expected to work flexible hours and travel to various locations as needed to meet the organization's requirements. In the absence of the CEO, the CFO assumes all fiduciary leadership responsibilities typically assigned to the CEO.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential responsibilities of the Chief Financial Officer include:
- Overseeing and directing all financial accounting and reporting procedures, including monthly bank reconciliations.
- Managing the General Ledger and reconciling control accounts to corresponding subsidiary ledgers.
- Ensuring accuracy in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including daily deposits and classifications.
- Preparing financial statements in accordance with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and accounting records for independent audits.
- Analyzing, preparing, and presenting financial statements to management, the Board, and the broader community.
- Monitoring departmental financial performance and internal controls.
- Developing and implementing financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Overseeing relationships with federal and state tax authorities and government regulators.
- Managing payroll processing and related reporting and tax filings.
- Directing all revenue cycle activities, ensuring accurate and timely billing to third-party payers.
- Collaborating with Operations leadership to implement best practices for billing and collections.
- Making key financial and operational decisions aligned with the organization's strategic goals.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is required; a Master's degree or CPA is preferred.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience, including five (5) years in a healthcare organization.
- Expertise in financial and budgetary practices, cash flow management, and healthcare fiscal regulations.
- Strong leadership skills focused on building and mentoring a high-performing finance team.
- A proven track record of driving innovation in financial processes and operational efficiency.
