PCA I-Inpatient, Acute Care Neurology/Neurosurgery, 24 hours, Days

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our Acute Care Neurology/Neurosurgery team at UMass Memorial Health. As a PCA, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate Effectively: Clearly convey patient observations and changes to the RN, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Ensure Patient Safety: Participate in maintaining a safe environment, utilizing interventions to de-escalate patients and, if necessary, assist with restraints in accordance with training and education.
- Assist with Daily Living Activities: Help patients with personal hygiene, ambulation, meals, and nourishment, promoting their overall well-being.
- Transport and Position Patients: Safely move, lift, and position patients, utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics.
- Maintain Patient Safety: Perform regular safety checks and implement fall prevention strategies as directed.
- Education and Certification: Minimum of a high school education or GED, and current Basic Life Support or Heart Saver certification.
- Experience and Skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate in English clearly, utilize proper safety techniques, and possess strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and gather information.
- Clinical Experience: Demonstrated experience in a clinical setting, with prior inpatient or outpatient care experience or clinical care training.
- Medical Terminology and Computer Skills: Familiarity with medical terminology and computer skills.
This role requires a 7:00-3:30pm schedule, with every other weekend and holiday off.
