We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate PCA I to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a PCA I, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate Effectively: Clearly and timely communicate with the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients, including changes in skin condition, vital signs, and mental status.
- Ensure Patient Safety: Participate in the development and maintenance of a safe environment, utilizing interventions to de-escalate patients and, if necessary, participating in restraints in accordance with training and education.
- Assist with Daily Living Activities: Assist patients with personal hygiene, ambulating, meals, and nourishment.
- Provide Physical Support: Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques and body mechanics.
- Maintain Patient Safety: Perform patient safety checks, utilize fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and follow Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
- Education and Certification: Minimum of a high school education or GED, and current Basic Life Support or Heart Saver certification.
- Experience and Skills: Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner. Must utilize proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities. Must have strong interpersonal skills to gather information from individuals, build relationships, and provide exceptional service to patients.
- Clinical Experience: Demonstrated clinical experience doing similar work in a clinical setting.
- Medical Terminology and Computer Skills: Prior inpatient/outpatient care experience or clinical care training, and medical terminology and computer skills.
This role works every other weekend and every other holiday, with a schedule of 7:00-3:30pm.
