Position Overview:

The Senior Business Analyst collaborates with both internal stakeholders and external partners to define and capture essential business goals and workflows. This role involves conducting thorough research and analysis to identify business needs that inform the development of user-centric programs and operational procedures.

Effective communication of these processes and their implications is crucial to ensure that both technical and non-technical team members understand how applications align with business objectives.

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for creating comprehensive system requirements and working alongside design teams to evaluate the impacts on applications, databases, and other systems based on these requirements.



Key Responsibilities:


1. Lead the development of Business Requirements using either a traditional methodology or the Business Process and Analysis (BPA) framework as directed by project leadership.


2. Oversee the Scoring and Claiming processes in collaboration with Business and Technology stakeholders to refine business requirements and use cases, ensuring clarity, conciseness, and traceability.

3. Identify project stakeholders and assess risks and benefits of various design alternatives; document assumptions and evaluate the impact of system changes on users and stakeholders.



4. Develop System Requirements (SRQs), including detailed process flows and use cases.

5. Conduct reviews of SRQs with project stakeholders and document consumers to confirm completeness and compliance with business requirements.

6. Engage with internal customers, cross-functional teams, and external vendors to capture and define agreed-upon business objectives and processes for system requirements.

7. Maintain and update the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) by mapping SRQs to Business Requirements.

8. Review designs from Architecture, Engineering, and Application Development, as well as QA/UAT test plans, to ensure all requirements are met and the RTM is updated as necessary.

9. Provide Business Analyst support for software testing and debugging initiatives to ensure alignment with requirements.

10. Deliver status reports detailing project progress, issues, dependencies, and risks.

Experience Levels:

Level I: Typically handles smaller tasks or is part of a larger analyst team on projects, with work subject to frequent reviews.

Level II: Possesses knowledge of how to research necessary information and may have deep expertise in one functional area while understanding others at a surface level.

Level III: Proactively analyzes and documents solutions, identifies risks, and contributes to business strategy discussions, with a broad understanding of multiple functional areas.

Level IV: Provides strategic insights to avoid risks and serves as a primary consultant for business solutions, with extensive knowledge across various functional areas.

Qualifications:

Typically requires a BS/BA in a related field; generally, 5-8 years of experience in a relevant area. Certification may be required in certain domains, or an MS/MA with 3-5 years of experience may be acceptable.


As a seasoned professional, the Senior Business Analyst is expected to contribute significantly to projects and functions that impact departmental and organizational outcomes. This role involves solving complex problems and applying advanced knowledge of the field to achieve successful results.
