Position Overview

Reports to: Associate Director of Research

Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid - 3 days in office & 2 days remote each week)

Status: Full-Time; Non-Exempt

Compensation: $20/hour not to exceed 40 hours/week

The Hub Project is a nonprofit organization founded to empower individuals through advocacy and strategic communication. Our mission is to foster a society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive economically and engage actively in democratic processes. We achieve this by collaborating with advocacy groups to enhance campaign effectiveness through innovative strategies.

Role Summary:

The Hub Project is seeking a dedicated intern to contribute to our initiatives aimed at safeguarding reproductive rights. This role involves educating the public about the challenges to these rights and sharing impactful narratives that highlight the consequences of restrictive policies. Our approach combines grassroots organizing, thorough research, and targeted media outreach to support our objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth policy research and distill complex information into accessible formats for broader dissemination.
  • Assist in the creation of press materials, including media advisories, press releases, opinion pieces, and digital content.
  • Support outreach efforts for storyteller recruitment.
  • Monitor media coverage, including compiling daily news summaries and tracking relevant press developments.
  • Develop and maintain focused media contact lists.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated passion for progressive issues.
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to reflect diverse community perspectives, particularly those of marginalized groups.
  • Strong research capabilities with a knack for summarizing information clearly and concisely.
  • Effective multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Familiarity with current events and the media landscape.
  • A commitment to equity and justice in professional endeavors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in drafting press materials, creating media lists, and developing campaign messaging.
  • Background in working on progressive advocacy campaigns or within nonprofit organizations.
