Your Role at SAM

  • The geomatics crew chief supervises the daily operations of a land surveying team.
  • Formulate the most effective strategy for data collection for field surveys, including primary control, construction layout, and as-built surveys as required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in documenting work completed and creating sketches.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Project Surveyor and technician regarding the project timeline and progress.
  • Engage professionally with client representatives and property owners.
  • Interpret construction drawings/specifications and comprehend all aspects of the land survey project requirements and tolerances.
  • Compile daily reports, time sheets, and other necessary documentation.
  • Oversee the maintenance of surveying vehicles and field equipment.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications You Bring to SAM
  • Skilled in operating total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs.
  • Experience with Trimble equipment is advantageous.
  • Strong technical and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities (listening, writing, and verbal).
  • Demonstrated work history, strong work ethic, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Willingness to travel for extended durations.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Capable of traversing long distances across diverse terrains and lifting up to 80 lbs.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, a clean background check, and successful drug screening.
