About the Role

The State of Alaska is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as an Analyst/Programmer 2/3/4 Flex. This role is a critical part of our Genetics Conservation Laboratory (GCL) and the Mark, Tag, and Age Lab (MTAL), where you will be responsible for maintaining and rewriting legacy software systems that are crucial to the management and conservation of Alaska's rich fisheries resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and rewrite legacy software systems to ensure efficient and reliable data management.
  • Develop custom system solutions to support the GCL and MTAL.
  • Work closely with genetics and fisheries staff to ensure seamless collaboration and data exchange.
  • Contribute to the sustainability of Alaska's fish populations by ensuring our data systems are efficient, reliable, and ready for the future.
Requirements
  • One year of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language.
  • One year of experience in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer system user support specialty.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage time and resources effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex problems.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
