Position Overview

As a Senior Montessori Educator, you will oversee a classroom of up to 9 children aged 18 months to 2.8 years. Your role will involve designing, preparing, and implementing engaging instructional activities that promote active Montessori learning experiences.

You will create educational opportunities that nurture each child's cognitive, language, social, emotional, and physical growth. Building strong relationships and maintaining regular communication with families will be essential to support each child's development.

In this capacity, you will mentor one or two assistant teachers and report directly to the Head of School.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the Montessori method and a background in early childhood education. You should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Two or more years of experience as a lead teacher or guide
  • A primary diploma from an AMI, AMS, or other MACTE-accredited institution
  • The ability to meet all credentialing criteria for lead early childhood teachers in Massachusetts
  • Experience in monitoring and maintaining accurate records of individual student progress
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to supervise and care for young children safely
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement instructional activities that facilitate active Montessori learning
  • Utilize the Montessori curriculum and current research-based practices to develop integrated instructional units
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and inviting Montessori environment
  • Foster a respectful and kind atmosphere among students
  • Employ approved assessment tools to inform instructional decisions
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and self-assessment
  • Support the development of assistant teachers
Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a competitive salary based on qualifications. The role includes:

  • Hours from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM with an additional hour for preparation
  • Ten paid days off, federal holidays, and vacation weeks aligned with local public schools
