Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Professional to join our Orthopedic Trauma team at WVU Medicine. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to patients with orthopedic trauma injuries, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage comprehensive and individualized care for orthopedic trauma patients and their families in the emergency department, inpatient phase of hospitalization, immediately post-discharge, and in the ambulatory setting.
  • Complete daily rounds, consult, and/or pre-procedure/evaluations as applicable, with collaboration of orthopedic faculty or by following established clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Perform and communicate results of diagnostic tests following established clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Consult and communicate with clinic and hospital staff regarding abnormal findings in patient evaluations.
  • Develop a comprehensive individualized plan of care for orthopedic trauma patients, including teaching, perioperative planning, discharge planning, and necessary referral to other members of the healthcare team as necessary.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a CCNE-accredited nursing program with a Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Practice.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Acute care, surgical, or orthopedic trauma experience preferred.
