POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of patient rooms and communal areas within the healthcare facility.

Key responsibilities include performing cleaning and sanitizing tasks, managing linens, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, restocking supplies, cleaning windows, and disposing of waste to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

The role requires adherence to safety protocols and hospital cleaning standards, with training provided.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties include:
1. Conducting routine cleaning of patient rooms, offices, and public spaces as directed by the supervisor.
2. Performing vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sweeping, and waste disposal.
3. Ensuring adequate linen supplies are available within the facility.
4. Utilizing disinfectants for cleaning tasks.
5. Restocking essential supplies (e.g., paper products, soap).
6. Safely storing cleaning supplies and equipment when not in use and ensuring patient safety during their use.
7. Complying with infection control measures, OSHA regulations, and safety management policies.

Additional responsibilities include assisting in maintaining a safe environment, reporting any health-related concerns, and participating in emergency response efforts. The Housekeeper is expected to demonstrate a commitment to service and foster a positive atmosphere while respecting patient confidentiality and rights.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position involves regular physical activity, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. Candidates must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and performing repetitive tasks. The role encompasses both indoor and outdoor duties and requires interaction with others. There may be occasional exposure to hazardous materials or infectious diseases.

Effective communication skills are essential, along with the ability to read and respond to written materials and discern various odors. Work hours may vary, and duties may change. Comfort in an acute healthcare setting and a customer service-oriented attitude are crucial.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
1. 1-2 years of housekeeping experience, ideally in a hospital or acute care environment.
2. Familiarity with infection control protocols.
3. Must be at least 21 years old and possess a minimum of a high school education or equivalent.

Employees should be in good mental and physical health to perform the duties outlined. A willingness to support psychiatric patients in line with the role is essential, with training provided.
