POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of patient rooms and communal areas within the facility.

The primary duties involve cleaning, sanitizing, managing linens, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, restocking supplies, washing windows, and disposing of waste both inside and outside to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

A focus on safety and adherence to hospital cleaning protocols is essential (training will be provided).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential tasks include:
1. Performing routine cleaning duties in patient rooms, offices, and public spaces as directed by the supervisor.
2. Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sweeping, and removing trash.
3. Ensuring an adequate supply of linens is maintained throughout the facility.
4. Utilizing disinfectants to clean surfaces.
5. Restocking supplies (paper products, soap, etc.).
6. Safely storing cleaning supplies and equipment when not in use and ensuring they are out of patient reach during use.
7. Complying with established infection control measures, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols.

Additional responsibilities include assisting in maintaining a safe environment and reporting any issues that may impact the health and safety of patients or staff. Utilizing time effectively and in an organized manner to fulfill assigned tasks is crucial. The Housekeeper may also assist during emergencies and is expected to demonstrate a commitment to service while fostering a positive environment. Confidentiality of patients and colleagues must be maintained at all times.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
This role requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. The ideal candidate must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly, as well as bending, stooping, kneeling, and performing repetitive tasks consistently. The position involves both indoor and outdoor activities, and collaboration with others is essential. The candidate should be prepared to handle hazardous/infectious waste and may occasionally be exposed to infectious diseases.

Effective verbal communication, visual acuity for reading, and the ability to discern various odors are necessary.

Work hours may vary, and duties are subject to change. The work environment is entirely within the designated facility area. Comfort with patients and families in a behavioral health setting is required, along with a strong customer service orientation and a positive attitude.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
1. 1-2 years of housekeeping experience, preferably in a healthcare or acute care environment.
2. Familiarity with infection control procedures and protocols is essential.
3. Candidates must be at least twenty-one (21) years old and possess a minimum of some high school education, with a preference for a High School diploma or equivalent.

Employees must maintain good mental and physical health to perform the duties outlined above. Willingness to support psychiatric patients in line with the responsibilities of the role is necessary (training will be provided).
