POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of patient rooms and communal areas within the facility.
Key responsibilities include thorough cleaning, sanitizing, managing linens, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, replenishing supplies, window cleaning, and disposing of waste to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
A strong emphasis on safety protocols and proper lifting techniques is essential (training will be provided).KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties include:
1. Performing routine cleaning tasks in patient rooms, offices, and public spaces as directed by the supervisor.
2. Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sweeping, and managing waste disposal.
3. Ensuring adequate linen supplies are maintained throughout the facility.
4. Utilizing disinfectants for cleaning purposes.
5. Restocking supplies (e.g., paper products, soap).
6. Safely storing cleaning supplies and equipment when not in use and ensuring they are inaccessible to patients during use.
7. Adhering to established infection control measures, OSHA regulations, and safety policies.
Additional Duties include:
- Assisting in maintaining a safe and risk-free environment.
- Reporting any conditions that may impact the health and safety of patients or staff.
- Utilizing time effectively to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
- Assisting during emergencies as needed.
- Demonstrating a commitment to service and fostering a positive atmosphere.
- Upholding the confidentiality of patients and colleagues.
- Participating in performance improvement activities.
- Treating patients, families, visitors, and colleagues with respect.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Responsibilities require frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. The ideal candidate must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly, bending, stooping, kneeling, and performing repetitive tasks consistently. The role involves both indoor and outdoor activities, and collaboration with others is essential. The ability to manage hazardous/infectious waste and occasional exposure to infectious diseases is required.
Effective verbal communication, visual acuity for reading, and the ability to identify various odors are necessary.
Hours may vary, and duties can change. The work environment is entirely within the designated facility area. Comfort with patients and families in a behavioral health context is crucial, along with a strong customer service orientation and a positive attitude.QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements:
1. 1-2 years of housekeeping experience, ideally in a hospital or acute care setting.
2. Familiarity with infection control procedures and protocols.
3. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old and possess a minimum of some high school education, with a preference for a High School diploma or equivalent.
4. Candidates must be in good mental and physical health to perform the duties outlined above.
5. Willingness to support psychiatric patients in alignment with the role (training will be provided).
6. Ability to work collaboratively within a larger housekeeping team and to be self-directed in the absence of the Director of Dietary/Housekeeping.
