OVERVIEW

Provide advanced financial analysis and support for designated business units, including full line and regional operations as well as corporate functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Oversee and develop semi-annual and fiscal year budgets and forecasts for assigned business segments, including full-line sales and corporate departments. Utilize Hyperion Planning software to prepare detailed budget line items for all profit and loss accounts, headcount evaluations, and various financial analyses. Act as a subject matter expert for Hyperion Planning, assisting finance teams in budget input and review processes.

+ Assist in validating month-end revenue recognition discrepancies.

+ Reconcile monthly billed revenue from systems.

+ Conduct gross margin analyses (actual vs. forecast) at a granular level and document necessary journal entries. Investigate identified gross margin variances and provide comprehensive documentation of findings. Serve as the primary contact for all gross margin-related inquiries, including accruals, reclassifications, and tracking of purchase price variances and inventory costing issues.

+ Support the preparation of month-end commission and backorder analysis reports.

+ Aid in the calculations for quarterly, semi-annual, and annual management incentive plan bonuses.

+ Execute and review financial analyses, ensuring reconciliation as needed. Analyses may include monthly selling expenses, temporary labor costs, general and administrative expenses, and travel and entertainment reviews. Download travel expense data to provide detailed reports by employee.

+ Prepare variance analyses (actual, forecast, and budget) and record relevant journal entries. Act as the main contact for expense analysis, including accruals and reclassifications.

+ Offer financial support, advice, and consultation to management to facilitate budget preparation and informed financial decision-making, such as product pricing evaluations or historical trend analyses.

+ Generate and distribute standardized budgets, forecasts, and monthly financial reports to executives and management. Participate in monthly discussions with business unit management to review financial actuals and forecasts.

+ Conduct monthly financial accounting closes and prepare necessary journal entries.

+ Develop advertising and promotional expense budgets and forecasts. Collaborate monthly with relevant staff to analyze results and provide detailed insights into individual advertising and promotional accounts. Act as the primary contact for expense accruals and prepaid expense evaluations.

+ Assist and provide backup to the Finance Manager in preparing comprehensive company profit and loss statements for budgets and forecasts, balance sheets, and capital budgets. Prepare detailed schedules of actual and forecasted sales and gross margin transactions as part of the monthly company profit and loss forecast. Conduct various ad hoc financial analyses for senior management and key internal stakeholders.

+ Create new financial reports using Excel, Essbase, and Hyperion Planning as required.

+ Provide guidance and training to fellow finance and accounting staff as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

+ Proficient in computer applications, including Oracle, MS Excel, and Hyperion Planning/Essbase.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and adept problem-solving skills; attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through are essential.

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience, with 2 to 3 years of demonstrated experience providing financial advice and consultation to management at all levels.

+ Preferred experience of 10 years.

+ Salary range: Minimum $84,300 to Maximum $135,700 annually.
