Job Title: Commercial Portfolio Manager

Rockland Trust is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Portfolio Manager to join our team in Peabody. As a key member of our Commercial Lending team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial loans and credit lines, ensuring the quality and soundness of credit transactions, and providing exceptional customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and make independent credit decisions and recommendations, including evaluating obligor risk ratings on new and existing relationships.
  • Manage the approval and commitment process, ensuring compliance with Credit Policy and accuracy of documents and supporting exhibits.
  • Monitor current loans and credit lines to ensure compliance with terms and proactively manage risk/exposure and compliance with Credit Policy for assigned portfolio.
  • Manage Covenant Compliance by monitoring, testing, and preparing waivers and Reservation of Rights letters when required.
  • Facilitate borrower financial reporting submissions to Bank and evaluate financial performance of borrower.
  • Identify early client risk/exposure, early detection of volatile industries and markets for assigned portfolio within designated region.
  • Ensure the timely completion of credit file updates.
  • Collaborate in coordinating pre-closing activities.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of credit with Loan Officers and proactively manage credit risk and exposure for an assigned portfolio.
  • Interact with existing and potential customers on credit or risk related matters.
Core Competencies:
  • Ability to make independent lending recommendations based on analysis and assessment of business' and guarantor's capacity to repay, quality of collateral, character, management ability, capital adequacy, and other conditions that may apply.
  • Ability to interview loan applicants as needed to develop information concerning their business, financing needs, management abilities, and earnings to determine whether a loan made to a company would be an acceptable risk to the Bank.
  • High level of detail, accuracy, and ability to prioritize work.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Formal Credit Training
  • Prior Commercial Credit Analysis/Portfolio Manager experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent experience.
