About the Role

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a Before and After School Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the YMCA Child Care Program, providing a safe and engaging environment for children to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain Positive Relationships: Foster strong relationships with members, parents, and colleagues, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Support Academic Goals: Collaborate with parents and educators to support children's academic development and progress.
  • Promote a Positive Environment: Create a fun, safe, and supportive environment that encourages children to explore, learn, and thrive.
  • Maintain Site and Equipment: Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the childcare site, including equipment and facilities.
  • Attend and Participate in Program Activities: Engage with children and families through program activities, family nights, and other events.
Requirements
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Value and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
  • Education and Experience: Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of experience working with children in a childcare setting.
  • Training and Certification: Complete STARS training, Infant-Child CPR, and Basic First Aid certification within specified timeframes.
  • Background Checks: Successfully complete required DCYF background and fingerprint checks.
  • Reliable Transportation: Possess a reliable vehicle and be able to transport children as needed.
