SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT


This role involves executing speech and language therapy activities for students under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist, while traveling between designated educational institutions as required.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


1. Implements therapy programs and activities for students, either individually or in small groups, to help them achieve their goals as outlined by the speech-language pathologist.
2. Provides therapeutic support within the classroom setting as needed.
3. Communicates pertinent information regarding students to appropriate personnel.
4. Travels to various schools for therapy sessions; organizes time for direct therapy; plans travel logistics; collaborates with school staff.
5. Assists in the preparation and execution of programs for students; gathers necessary materials; updates schedules as required.
6. Maintains speech/language therapy documentation; organizes district forms; completes necessary paperwork under the guidance of the speech-language pathologist.
7. Engages with teachers, assistants, and administrators for consultations as directed by the speech-language pathologist.
8. Contacts parents as necessary under the direction of the speech-language pathologist.
9. Tracks student progress and attendance; revises plans accordingly.
10. Participates in departmental, building, and IEP meetings.
11. Acts as a collaborative team member in designated classrooms.
12. Develops and modifies materials for students as instructed by the speech-language pathologist.
13. Ensures that students' personal hygiene needs are met by assigned staff; may occasionally assist in lifting and carrying students.
14. Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience


Associate's degree with a focus on Speech-Language Pathology Assistance, or a BS or BA in speech/language pathology with relevant experience as a speech-language pathology assistant is required.

Certification and Licenses

Washington Speech-Language Pathology Assistant certification is required.

Desirable Qualification

Experience in speech therapy is preferred. Previous work experience with preschool, elementary, and secondary special needs students is advantageous.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is conducted in both standard school environments and satellite locations.

During the typical workday, the employee may be required to travel to multiple sites throughout the district in various weather conditions and navigate traffic, steps, ramps, and uneven surfaces.

Must possess normal use of fingers, hands, and arms; ability to sit or stand for extended periods; and tolerance for occasional loud sounds.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and basic life insurance benefits.
