Position Overview

Join our dedicated team at the Community YMCA, where we collaborate with local educational institutions to provide enriching Before and After School Programs.

We are currently seeking an Assistant Group Supervisor for our Southeast District initiative.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, with morning hours from 6:45 AM to 8:50 AM and afternoon hours from 2:45 PM to 6:00 PM.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Assistant Group Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Child Care classroom, adhering to the guidelines set forth in the Child Care Parent Handbook and Policies and Procedures Manual. This position is essential in promoting the YMCA's mission, emphasizing the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for fostering a safe and engaging environment that encourages participation and safety among all members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Implement and assess daily classroom operations in alignment with the current PA Early Learning Standards, utilizing child assessments to guide planning.
  2. Design activities that cater to the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development of each child, while maintaining individual portfolios and incorporating diverse cultural experiences.
  3. Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all children, supervising both indoor and outdoor areas effectively.
  4. Employ positive guidance techniques as outlined in the parent handbook, integrating YMCA values when interacting with children, families, and colleagues.
  5. Build and maintain constructive relationships with families, keeping them informed about their child's development and providing necessary resources.
  6. Involve Aides in the planning and execution of daily program activities.
  7. Manage all necessary documentation (attendance, developmental screenings, assessments, incident reports, etc.) and submit them promptly to the Child Care Office.
  8. Participate in all staff meetings and family events as directed by the Center Director.
  9. Exhibit a professional demeanor that reflects the YMCA's values, adhering to the policies outlined in the Personnel Policy handbook and Child Care Parent Handbook.
  10. Assume Group Supervisor responsibilities in their absence.
  11. Perform any additional duties as required to support the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years (2500 hours) of documented experience working with children.
  3. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  4. Commitment to ongoing quality improvements in programming.
  5. Required certifications: CPR/AED and Pediatric First Aid from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 15 days of hire.
  6. Completion of all required training as mandated by the Community YMCA, Keystone STARS level, and DHS.
  7. Able to connect effectively with diverse groups from various social and economic backgrounds.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to lift and carry weights between 15-50 pounds.
  2. Strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential job functions and supervise children's activities safely.
  3. Visual and auditory capabilities to identify and respond to safety hazards.
