Working Hours: Monday to Friday: Mornings from 6:45am to 8:50am and afternoons from 2:45pm to 6pm
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the daily functions of the Child Care classroom, adhering to the guidelines set forth in the Child Care Parent Handbook and Policies and Procedures Manual. This role requires a commitment to the YMCA's mission, emphasizing the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. It is essential to foster a safe and engaging environment that prioritizes member safety and involvement in accordance with YMCA standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, execution, and assessment of daily activities that align with PA Early Learning Standards.
- Provide activities that support each child's emotional, social, physical, and cognitive growth.
- Ensure a secure environment for all children, maintaining vigilant supervision within the classroom.
- Utilize positive guidance strategies that highlight caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in interactions with children, families, and colleagues.
- Establish and nurture positive relationships with families, keeping them updated on their child's development.
- Complete necessary documentation and participate in training sessions and meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old or have completed an approved training program.
- Possess an 8th-grade education and have a minimum of 2 years of documented experience working with children.
- Demonstrate proficient computer skills and excellent communication abilities.
- Show a commitment to program enhancement and relevant certifications.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse groups of individuals.
Physical Requirements
- Capable of lifting and carrying weights between 15-50 lbs.
- Physical ability to perform job tasks efficiently.
- Visual and auditory skills to identify and respond to potential hazards.
- Must be attentive to ensure the safety of all individuals present.
