Leidos is in search of a Civil Engineer to contribute to the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) Team, delivering expertise to the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Infrastructure Engineering Center.

This role involves providing essential technical assistance to the Infrastructure Engineering Center for the execution of project engineering packages. The responsibilities include:

  • Developing tailored project plans and specifications for the solicitation and contracting of engineering projects, ensuring FAA approval and acceptance.
  • Conducting site surveys to gather project-specific data and researching relevant standards, construction codes, and regulations.
  • Analyzing findings from site surveys and offering recommendations and solutions to identified issues.
  • Preparing comprehensive trip reports within two working days post-completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compiling and finalizing project documentation, including:
    • Scope of work and project transmittal.
    • Lists of drawings and specifications.
    • Operational Risk Management checklists.
    • Information for Purchase Requests (PR) and NAS Change Proposals (NCP).
    • Documentation of Government furnished properties and airspace cases.
    • Assessments of engineering impacts on Environmental & Safety Compliance Program checklists.
    • Engineering cost estimates and project schedules.
  • Providing technical engineering support throughout all phases of new construction and renovation projects, including evaluating shop drawings and design proposals for compliance with contract documents.
  • Participating in Joint Acceptance Inspections and Contractor Acceptance Inspections, offering recommendations for engineering-related issues.
  • Conducting engineering studies to assess feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Contributing technical insights to the Government Technical Interpreter for planning, budgeting, and coordinating engineering project development.
  • Creating project drawings in accordance with FAA standards and guidelines.

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science degree coupled with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Civil Engineering Design, particularly with tower, shelter, and similar structure projects.

Familiarity with Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) facilities is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in AUTOCAD and knowledge of Corporate Work Plan (CWP), National Airspace System Equipment Tower (NASET), and National Airspace System Equipment Building (NASEB) is advantageous.

Understanding of Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, power, general construction techniques, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), fire detection, security, and site work is also beneficial.

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is between $68,000 and $124,550. This range serves as a general guideline and is not a guarantee of compensation.
