Position Overview

Boston Vision is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Ophthalmic Clinical Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in overseeing the clinical operations and ensuring exceptional patient care within our ophthalmic department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the technician schedule and make necessary adjustments to optimize clinic flow.
  • Oversee employee timekeeping and address time-off requests through our management system.
  • Monitor and report on retention metrics for participating technicians.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to assess supply needs and ensure timely ordering.
  • Work closely with Human Resources on recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary matters.
  • Provide comprehensive training for both new and existing clinical personnel.
  • Identify staffing requirements and participate in the interview process for technician candidates.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations of the clinic.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in practice management software and Google Suite.
  • Exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail.

Preferred Background:

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a clinical setting.
  • COA certification is preferred and must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.

Core Duties:
- Conduct various ophthalmic tests and measurements, including visual acuity and tonometry.
- Assist ophthalmologists during diagnostic procedures and surgeries.
- Gather and document patient medical histories accurately.
- Administer prescribed eye drops and medications.
- Perform preliminary tests, including ocular measurements and visual field assessments.
- Educate patients on eye care and contact lens usage.
- Support medical billing, coding, and record maintenance.
- Maintain inventory of ophthalmic supplies and ensure proper equipment upkeep.

Skills Required:
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of ophthalmic procedures and equipment.
- Experience with medical billing, coding, and record management systems.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of pediatric eye care is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system is preferred.
