Role Overview:


In this role, your primary focus will be on underwriting corporate property programs, particularly for large commercial and multinational clients.

You will be responsible for developing and determining appropriate terms and conditions, as well as evaluating risk-sharing acceptances.

Additionally, you will support the head of the Unit in overseeing the North American Property portfolio to ensure profitability, assist Claims in validating and optimizing claims payments, and provide expertise to both internal and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently underwrite and price moderately to highly complex business in line with corporate and departmental guidelines.
  • Underwrite new and renewal business, encompassing all tasks related to information gathering, data analysis, risk assessment, pricing, and negotiations.
  • Review primary policy, contract, and endorsement language to ensure accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
  • Refer any business outside of delegated underwriting authority to the appropriate referral underwriter.
  • Analyze and assess necessary risk information.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate business records.
  • Assist management in evaluating the portfolio to ensure profitability.
  • Collaborate with Claims teams.
  • Support management in fulfilling various managerial responsibilities as needed.

Client Relationship Management:
  • Develop and sustain a strong market presence through effective client and broker strategies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with clients, brokers, and colleagues.
  • Proactively identify and analyze the needs of existing and prospective clients.
  • Promote the company's capabilities and competencies externally.

Negotiation Skills:
  • Independently negotiate (re)insurance contracts with clients and brokers based on delegated authority.

Peer Reviews:
  • Participate in peer reviews of team members' accounts.

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in the insurance or corporate risk market.
  • 5+ years of underwriting experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; advanced degree is a plus.
  • CPCU or similar designations are desirable.
  • Professional designations are a plus.
  • Proficiency in pricing models and risk evaluation tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and maintain profitability.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (up to 25%).
