Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates and underwrites both new and renewal property and casualty insurance applications, scrutinizing policy forms, broker endorsement requests, and submitted documentation in accordance with company underwriting standards and protocols, while acquiring additional information as necessary.
  • Assesses the acceptability of risks by analyzing coverage value, geographical location, usage, safety features, and other relevant factors.
  • Determines suitable coverage limits and insurance premiums, along with policy terms and conditions based on comprehensive risk analysis and underwriting guidelines, ensuring effective management of property and casualty portfolios.
  • Provides exceptional service for new property and casualty business and renewals, showcasing professionalism, technical expertise, and strict adherence to underwriting protocols.
  • Identifies and evaluates potential exposures, ensuring compliance with applicable state and national regulations and guidelines established by insurance carriers and the organization.
  • Delivers premium forecasts and business strategies to support budgetary and performance objectives.
  • Maintains and nurtures existing broker relationships while collaborating across teams to manage production activities such as submissions, quotes, declines, and policy issuance, ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality service to clients.
  • Fosters professional, long-term relationships within the designated portfolio and operates within delegated authority limits, partnering with brokers to develop tailored insurance solutions as required.
  • Creates avenues for new business opportunities, maximizes retention of the assigned portfolio, and ensures timely review of renewal business to meet organizational targets.
  • Engages in marketing initiatives, participates in seminars and training, and remains informed about market dynamics and trends in property and casualty underwriting.
  • Stays updated on industry trends, emerging risks in the property and casualty sector, relevant terminology, and regulations, adjusting underwriting strategies as necessary.
Work Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Property and Casualty Underwriting is required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred; alternatively, 3 years of experience with a Master's degree.
Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred, particularly in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, or Business Administration. Other related disciplines or equivalent work experience will also be considered.
Licenses & Certifications:
  • Required: Minimum state P&C and/or surplus line licenses.
  • Preferred: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
