Housing Support Services Coordinator

SALARY: $24.00

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Housing Support Services Coordinator is primarily tasked with managing and overseeing the allocation of the Refugee Support Services Other Social Services (RSS OSS) Housing Assistance grant for all eligible clients. This role involves addressing housing and family crises. The Coordinator will also assist qualified clients in completing and submitting Section 8 applications to the Louisville Metro Housing Authority (LMHA) through the LMHA Special Referral Program. In alignment with the Mission and Vision of Catholic Charities of Louisville, the Housing Support Services Coordinator will embody the agency's core Values: Welcome, Empower, and Strengthen.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:
  1. Process housing assistance applications for clients requiring rental support in ClientTrack (electronic client database) and maintain physical files. Submit requests for assistance distribution to department leadership, ensuring documentation through case notes in ClientTrack, and updating the housing assistance budget spreadsheet.
  2. Adhere to appropriate financial and purchasing protocols, maintaining necessary documentation for vendors.
  3. Collaborate closely with Case Management staff, Employment Team, Cuban and Haitian Team, and all personnel involved in client service delivery.
  4. Support the housing coordinator in identifying and securing safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for newly arriving refugees, in accordance with established program guidelines.
  5. Assist the housing coordinator in conducting ongoing outreach to current and prospective landlords and property managers, fostering strong relationships to enhance housing access for refugee families and coordinating client home repair requests as necessary.
  6. Act as a backup for the housing coordinator in various responsibilities, including ordering furniture and supplies, arranging deliveries, facilitating lease signings and renewals, processing payments, and conducting home safety inspections.
  7. Thoroughly complete Section 8 paperwork and return it with all required documentation and verifications for referral through the Louisville Metro Housing Special Referral Program.
  8. Address family emergencies as they arise, including coordinating burial plots for clients.
  9. Assist case managers by making copies, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as requested.
  10. Perform any other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position is conducted in an office environment with moderate noise levels from computers, printers, and general office activity. EFFORT:

  • Occasional travel within the community may be required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An Associate's degree or higher is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals capable of performing the essential duties of the position. SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Proven communication skills to effectively engage with colleagues and clients in a multicultural setting, including individuals with limited English proficiency.
  • Ability to represent Catholic Charities positively in dress and demeanor when interacting with community members.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and reliable personal transportation.
  • Adept at managing frequent changes, delays, and unexpected events.
  • Ability to handle competing demands and utilize time efficiently.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and manage stressful situations.
  • Proficiency in PC skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook, as well as Google Sheets.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of information.
  • Demonstrated self-confidence, initiative, flexibility, and a high level of professionalism.
