Patient Access Specialist

St. Luke's Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Patient Access Specialist to join our team of healthcare professionals. This float position offers the opportunity to work across various physician offices, providing exceptional patient care and administrative support.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Registration & Scheduling: Efficiently check patients in and out, schedule appointments (new and follow-up), and manage the appointment scheduling system.
- Insurance Verification & Data Entry: Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and enter data accurately into electronic medical records (EMR) and billing systems.
- Financial Transactions: Collect patient payments, co-payments, and outstanding balances. Process self-pay discounts and issue receipts.
- Administrative Support: Maintain a clean and organized reception area, answer phones professionally, handle incoming calls, and provide general administrative support to the practice.
- Medical Records Management: Assist with medical records requests, including copying, billing, and distribution. Maintain accurate patient records in both electronic and paper formats.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare background preferred.
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) is essential.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize effectively.
- Knowledge of contracted insurance plans and procedures.
