Position Overview
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated professional to join our esteemed Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences within the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. This role is pivotal in enhancing our internal medicine services, collaborating with a team of specialists across various veterinary disciplines including surgery, cardiology, neurology, and more.
The full-time clinical/tenure-track assistant professor will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality service and education within our veterinary teaching hospital. Responsibilities will encompass supervising clinical care provided by students, interns, and residents assigned to the internal medicine unit, as well as offering expert consultation to clients and referring veterinarians. The candidate will also share responsibilities for after-hours emergency services with fellow internists.
The successful applicant is expected to engage actively in both didactic and practical instruction of veterinary students, contributing to a dynamic and interactive curriculum. Key duties will include mentoring interns, residents, and graduate students throughout their training. Research opportunities will be available based on the candidate's interests and qualifications, allowing for participation in ongoing research initiatives and contributing to the academic achievements of the research team.

Required Qualifications:
- DVM or equivalent foreign degree by the date of hire.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in veterinary internal medicine.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eligibility for a Virginia faculty veterinary license.
- Willingness to travel for professional development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (MS, PhD).
- Board certification in veterinary internal medicine.
- Clinical experience in small animal internal medicine.
