Position Overview
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking applications for a full-time Clinical/Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the field of Internal Medicine within the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences. This role is integral to our veterinary teaching hospital, where our faculty comprises experts in various specialties including surgery, emergency care, cardiology, and more.
The selected candidate will play a crucial role in delivering clinical services and educational instruction. Responsibilities include overseeing the clinical care provided by veterinary students, interns, and residents in the internal medicine service, as well as offering consultations to clients and referring veterinarians. The candidate will also share responsibilities for after-hours emergency services with fellow internists.
In addition to clinical duties, the successful applicant is expected to engage in both didactic and laboratory instruction, contributing to the training of veterinary students in a modern and interactive curriculum. This position will involve active participation in the mentorship of interns, residents, and graduate students. Research opportunities are available and may align with the candidate's interests and qualifications, including collaborative or translational research projects.

Required Qualifications:
- DVM or equivalent foreign degree by the date of hire.
- Completion of an accredited program by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM-CA).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eligibility for a Virginia faculty veterinary license by the date of hire.

- Advanced degree (MS, PhD).
- Board certification as a Veterinary Internist.
