Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Alfond Youth and Community Center is seeking a Youth Engagement Coordinator. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about fostering positive development in adolescents. The Youth Engagement Coordinator will oversee and facilitate after-school programs for teen participants, ensuring they thrive within the established program framework. Activities will encompass both physical and educational components, with an emphasis on leadership development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee a group of adolescent participants.
  • Exhibit a proactive approach by engaging in all facets of the program.
  • Design and execute daily activities for participants to engage with.
  • Monitor participant behavior, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and implementing effective behavior management strategies.
  • Support participants facing behavioral, emotional, or social challenges, escalating serious concerns to the Youth Programs Coordinator.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and orderly environment for all participants and program resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory, or actively pursuing educational qualifications.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is required or must be obtained.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage diverse groups.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and confidently.
  • Professional demeanor and effective communication.
  • Willingness to engage in physical activities.
  • Experience in peer mentorship across various age groups.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Varies based on program needs and availability.
  • Programs are conducted on designated weekdays.
  • Occasional weekend sessions may be required.
