After School Programs Counselor Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified After School Programs Counselor to join our team at the Alfond Youth And Community Center. As an After School Programs Counselor, you will be responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for children aged 5-12, promoting their social, emotional, and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement daily activities and curriculum for children to follow
  • Responsible for a group of 13 children, helping each child adjust and grow with other children within the program guidelines
  • Maintain positive relationships with patrons and families
  • Abilities to observe student behavior and assess its appropriateness, enforce relevant safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and discipline of children, area, and equipment

Requirements:

  • High School Education or GED is required or working toward degree or equivalent
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification is required
  • Basic childcare skills required

Work Schedule: Varies based on need and location. Typically, schedules follow the schools' schedules. Shifts start when the kids arrive from school and end when they leave (about 2:30pm-6:30pm). Monday - Friday.

Pay Range: $14.15 per hour
