Job Summary

The Alfond Youth & Community Center is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Gardens and Childcare Assistant. This full-time position will be split between our school-age childcare program and the garden program, providing a unique opportunity to combine your love of gardening and working with children.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the upkeep and maintenance of the gardens and growing spaces, ensuring a thriving and productive environment for our children to learn and grow.
  • Help to provide fresh produce for our kitchen/food programs, promoting healthy eating habits and sustainability.
  • Develop and lead activities for groups of children in the garden, fostering a love of nature, food, and cooking.
  • Support the planning, seedling care, and event implementation for our Annual AYCC Seedling Sale, promoting community engagement and education.
  • Assist with events and plant sales, promoting the center's mission and values.
  • Encourage enthusiasm for gardening and agriculture in the children, promoting a lifelong love of learning and exploration.

  • A personality and temperament that encourages confidence, trust, and respect from the members and staff.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with organic growing practices.
