Business Development Leader

The Business Development Executive at RapidFlight plays a pivotal role in driving core capture opportunity success. This position requires strong leadership, tenacity, and inventiveness in identifying emergent customer needs and mobilizing specific organizational technologies, products, and services to deliver strong market offerings. The ideal candidate will have a strong bias for action in engaging with Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) customers, partners, and key suppliers to shape opportunities that maximize customer value proposition and subsequent business capture.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly engage with customers, network contacts, and industry partners to identify and cultivate key relationships aligned with strategic capture objectives
- Aggressively investigate industry technologies, key players, and underserved customer segments to uncover emergent opportunity
- Collaborate with the engineering development team at all levels to theorize on new methods to optimize and exploit core competencies relative to specific market needs
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of industry activity with a particular emphasis in incumbent and emergent programs with strong alignment with organizational offerings
- Maintain a Customer Resource Management tool, identifying, processing, actioning on, and tracking specific capture opportunities
- Coordinate with development contributors to evolve engineering deliverables and product content for inclusion and presentation within proposal documentation
- Establish proposal tools, processes, and procedures that accelerate a strong response to urgent Request For Information (RFI) and/or Request For Proposals (RFP)
- Consolidate proposal content and manage refinement, review, and approval in preparation for formalized submission
- Participate in tradeshows, industry events, and hosted engagement events to promote offerings to emergent customer segments
Requirements
- Graduate degree in business, management, product development, or equivalent desired
- Undergraduate degree in STEM discipline or directly relevant professional work experience required
- 10+ years actively participating in direct customer, supplier, industry partner experience required, with a particular emphasis early customer interactions culminating in customer capture
- Strong record of past performance with US government, US military, and/or government and military research laboratory customers while representing a prime or subcontractor organization
- Robust experience operating within a product lifecycle for government/military UAS applications
- Robust industry and professional network capable of accelerating business development activities
- Intimate knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and processes
- Ability to travel approximately 50% supporting business development operations
- Direct experience representing aircraft systems, flight technologies, autonomous systems, embedded sensors, intelligence systems, or tactical military systems strongly desired
- Valid US Passport (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Current or recently held Secret Clearance or higher
