SUMMARY:

The Investment Trust Consultant serves as the primary business development representative for investment solutions within the Trust Department. This role involves collaborating with Trust Officers to evaluate, design, and execute investment strategies tailored for personal trust and investment management accounts. The Investment Trust Consultant must thrive in a client-focused, growth-oriented, team-centric, and transformative environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Engage with trust officers, clients, and other professionals to analyze and understand client needs.
  • Determine asset allocation and create a portfolio that aligns with the client's financial goals.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with trust officers and clients to discuss changes and performance metrics.
  • Provide discretionary management for intricate trust and high-net-worth portfolios, adhering to client-specific requirements, governing documents, departmental guidelines, and fiduciary standards.
  • Oversee the management of approximately $130 million in assets across various portfolios.
  • Collaborate with trust officers to gain a comprehensive understanding of client needs and enhance the overall client experience.
  • Manage asset allocation and performance reviews for accounts.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of department stocks, fixed income, mutual funds, ETFs, and other diverse assets.
  • Perform annual evaluations of accounts, including assessments of special assets such as real estate, annuities, promissory notes, and life insurance.
  • Work alongside Trust Officers and clients to establish suitable investment objectives, articulate tailored investment strategies, and clarify account performance.
  • Utilize all available systems, tools, and resources to efficiently execute trading and rebalancing decisions.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members on best practices while addressing issues and overseeing designated functions.
  • Support the department in generating new business by effectively communicating solutions and value propositions to potential clients.
  • Collaborate closely with Trust Administration, New Business Teams, Advanced Branch Support, and other related service areas.
  • Lead presentations at client events, regional meetings, seminars, and virtual conferences.
  • Initiate projects within the Investments Area that enhance our capacity to serve clients across the division and bank-wide.
  • Comply with the ethics, standards, and principles outlined in the Prudent Man Rule, Trust Policy Manual, Illinois Trust Code, and Trust Compliance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Skilled in assessing customer needs and providing relevant information or assistance.
  • Expertise in investment strategies and portfolio management, including Modern Portfolio Theory and the Prudent Investor Rule.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, capable of delivering concise market commentary and simplifying complex investment concepts for clients and colleagues.
  • Proficient in evaluating and synthesizing investment research.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate investment strategies and account performance while addressing inquiries to foster relationships.
  • Experience with estate planning principles, taxation, insurance, retirement accounts, and related financial planning concepts.
  • Proven track record in mentoring peers and providing constructive feedback, serving as a point of escalation for complex discussions.
  • Familiarity with various accounting, performance, and trading systems.
  • Proficient in using spreadsheets, databases, and software applications (e.g., Morningstar Direct, Microsoft Office, FIS Charlotte, Zephyr, Argus Research, Investors' View).
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in making investment recommendations and allocations.
  • CFP or CFA designation is desirable.
  • Series 7 Broker license preferred.
