Position Overview

Shift/Hours:
Full-time, 36 hours per week - Days

Holiday/Weekend Requirement:
Every 3rd weekend (Friday/Saturday) and holiday rotation.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Certified Respiratory Care Specialist, your role will encompass:

  • Delivering respiratory care to a diverse patient demographic, including neonates through to geriatric patients.
  • Employing analytical skills, problem-solving techniques, and delegation to ensure the best patient outcomes.
  • Leading within your team, managing priorities, and promoting effective communication with the healthcare staff.
  • Taking responsibility for patient outcomes and applying respiratory therapy principles in everyday practice.
  • Providing proficient, age-appropriate respiratory care while adhering to established performance standards.
  • Executing additional responsibilities as needed to further the department's objectives.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Certification: Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC)
  • BLS certification is mandatory
  • ACLS certification to be obtained within the first year of employment
  • 2 – 5 years of experience in respiratory care is preferred
  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited institution

Desirable Experience:

  • Familiarity with Bronchoscopy, PFT Lab, and Therapist-Driven Protocols is advantageous.

About the Department:

  • Patient demographic: Neonates to Geriatrics
  • Total bed capacity: 100 beds
  • Patient load: 8 patients or fewer per therapist, excluding emergency calls
  • Team composition: 15 other clinicians in this role
  • Reporting structure: Operations Leader
